Absolutely Excellent Stay

We have just enjoyed a one night stay for my birthday and don't often bother writing reviews but with this pub, we just had too. Right from the moment we walked in the door we were welcomed with our keys waiting for us, our room which was Hedgehog was warm and inviting. We had dinner booked tht night and were greeted witha lovely friendly welcome with fabulous menu & specials of which we ate with delight, everything tasted wonderful including the breakfast the following morning although we were still full up from the dinner the night before! The bed was a really decent size with a lovely bathroom with products provided, although a rail on the wall would be handy when climbing out of the bath/shower? You actually have decent size towels too which is a first for many hotels!! That is the only thing I could think of that would improve safety for me! Dogs are welcome which made it even more enjoyable and we will certainly be back !

Cute room great staff

Rooms all have the name of a different woodland creature and there are coresponding decor items in the room. It is all done very tastefully and I thought it was cute. The room was hot when I was there but most pubs don't have a/c in their rooms and they did have a portable unit that was trying to move the air around.
The staff were very service oriented, friendly, nothing seemed too much trouble. For the staff alone I would recommend the stay. They have a restaurant and I was not as impresse with the dinner.

Return stay

Our second time staying at this excellent inn, and for the second time we really enjoyed it. A warm welcome from staff (and locals) who could not do enough to help, and a great atmosphere. Rooms are warm and comfortable; this time we took a room in the main building, so there was a bit more noise from the bar (as the website warns), but it didn't trouble us at all, with food prepared in a kitchen that clearly understands flavours and ingredients.
