Only positives
The hotel was a perfect base for our golf trip. We played courses locally and further afield and the hotel was close enough to a main road to drive around. It was also close enough to the lovely Altea Old Town, Marina and the long prom.
Hotel staff were warm and attentive in all areas of the hotel from the restaurant, to reception, to the bar.
We only had breakfast and that was a high end offering, providing plenty of choice.
Rooms were massive and clean.
Only disappointment was the weather meaning we didn't use the outdoor pool. Fortunately there was an indoor one.
Would definitely return.

A couple of tweaks would have made it a better holiday
The positives are that it is a lovely, well maintained and clean hotel. We had two seaview rooms, half board and certainly got value for money.
The food was great and the restaurant staff were exceptionally friendly.
If you book here, you will have a good stay. We saw neighbouring Altea and Calpe while we were there and both are nice resorts.
The reception staff are a bit hit and miss. Some are friendly, engaging and knowledgeable (Lorena), others less so (Fran).
One of the downsides to the hotel is that it’s location is isolated and not near anything. You can walk into Altea but at night it’s dark with no safety barriers walking by a busy road, so wouldn't advise it.
Given that there’s nowhere to go close-by, it’s odd that there’s no form of entertainment in the evening. Sure we were out of season but once you’ve eaten, there’s nothing else to do, so when we were there guests didn't stay downstairs. We strolled down to the beach but in complete darkness.
Many elements of the hotel are really good; the food, the views out to sea, the rooms, the immaculate grounds and pool areas but some simple improvements would make it a great holiday destination.

A great hotel on the outskirts of Altea
We stayed in a standard room with a view of the mountains. The room was well-maintained, and everything worked perfectly. Just the WiFi was a bit slow. The view from the balcony was a delightful sight each morning.
The hotel boasts three large pools, providing ample space for relaxation and swimming. However, the sea in the hotel area is not recommended for swimming due to large stones that make entering the water difficult.
Overall, the SH Villa Gadea offers a luxurious stay with beautiful mountain views and excellent pool facilities. The hotel provides a comfortable and enjoyable experience.
