Hotel with low resort feel but exceptional convenience and cospa
Right next door is Ala Moana Shopping Center, a classic Hawaiian shopping destination, as well as Don Quixote and Walmart, making it a great place to shop.
There's also Ala Moana Beach Park by the sea, which according to a local guide has a large, placid beach that's better than Waikiki Beach for swimming.
The room I stayed in this time was in the Ocean View category on the middle floor. It was not a beachside hotel, so even though it had an ocean view, it was not a view of the ocean right in front of us, but I could see the ocean to a certain extent, and the night view of the cityscape extending to the mountain side was a very beautiful room.
The room is not that big, but it feels bigger than it really is because it only has simple furnishings. You can enjoy the outside air with a balcony and deck chairs.
It is also equipped with a microwave and a slightly larger refrigerator, making it suitable for long-term stays.
The bathroom feels a bit aging, but it is well maintained and clean.
Apart from the famous steakhouse, the hotel's food and drink facilities are a bit poor, with a bar and buffet restaurant (no day or night operations) that serves as a breakfast venue, and Starbucks, but there are plenty of food and drink facilities in the Ala Moana shopping centre, which I mentioned earlier. It's not a bad idea to buy a frozen food box or pizza at a convenience store on the first floor and heat it up in your microwave.
It's less resort-like than a resort hotel in Waikiki, but it's convenient and affordable, so it might be a good idea for your second or subsequent stay in Hawaii.
By the way, it was also used a lot as a place to stay for Honolulu flight crews from various countries, and I saw CAs from various airlines. On the flight home from ANA, I spoke to CA and he said that ANA alone uses nearly 50 pilots and CAs every day.

Worst hotel experience
- No drinking water provided, and management refused to serve water
- No kettle so there's no access to hot water
- Inconsistent water heater
- No provided overnight kit (see photo)
- Bad coffee (really bad)
- Provided coffee maker poorly cleaned and still wet inside
- Management refused all basic requests like utensils, plates, glasses, etc
- Overcrowded elevators, there's always a queue.
We will not come back here. Please stay away.
