A little Sussex gem
I booked 8 rooms for a golfing trip to nearby West Sussex GC and this proved very successful. Our host opened the small bar on arrival early evening before we took taxis to a nearby pub for supper. Our host was on hand as we returned to ensure that plenty of nightcaps could be dispensed.
The hotel no longer offers lunch or dinner but their breakfast was magnificent and would have graced many a 4-star hotel in London. From the cold buffet, I selected mixed fresh berries with a pot of home-made yoghurt and local honey. Simply delicious. Both coffee and tea were produced hot for each guest.
Then I had the FEB consisting of sausage, beans, mushroom, excellent bacon, tomato and two perfectly fried eggs on a hot plate served direct from the kitchen. As the waitress commented, it was the first time that the chef (owner) had been persuaded to cook fried bread in her 7 years of service. This is my special treat requested only when not travelling with my eagle-eyed wife!!
Others enjoyed magnificent mushroom or smoked salmon eggs benedict. Two toasted half buns for the mushroom or salmon, each topped with a perfectly poached egg and then coated with a superb Hollandaise sauce.
This establishment met with unanimous approval from my golfing party and we plan to return in 2025. Cost for B&B was £120 incl vat and service per person.
